In questa mostra si rappresenta la figura dell'artista nell'epoca moderna , fin ora paragonata a quella del clown, come riflesso della sua condizione sociale. Quindi la tradizionale serietà e solennità dei ritratti lascia il posto ai volti di nani ,pagliacci, giocolieri e acrobati. 175 opere analizzano il tema del circo nel suo insieme da Degas, Toulouse-Lautrec, Rouault, Picasso Chagall, Leger, Watteau, Daumier, Seurat, Klee. Il percorso espositivo include anche stazioni audiovisive rd estratti di vecchie pellicole.
